He played for Curlwaa and Wentworth football clubs in the 1950's. He died after tractor roll-over on 27 December 1960 in Curlwaa NSW.⁷⁸⁷ He was buried about 27 December 1960 in Merbein Vic.⁶⁵⁵ Grave : C of E Row K Grave 28 [Photo] Leo or 'Bruiser' as he was known, died young in a tractor rollover probably because he was working too many hours and misjudged the embankment at the end of the fruit 'block'. He was renown as a footballer and cricketer in the Curlwaa - Wentworth district. He was an ardent Melbourne supporter in the VFL / AFL football league.
He enjoyed fishing and other activities around the rivers near Curlwaa.

We had been crabbing at Pt Parham and gave him a box of crabs. He wrapped them in a tarpaulin with ice and was 'the toast of the Woomera hotel ' he told us later.
Les lived with Aileen's family for some time when they were children .
He worked on Stations in the far North of South Australia ( Woomera / Coober Pedy ) . At one time he was seriously injured when attempting to remove a spring from a car. He died young of a heart attack. He'd had a hard life but was always the 'larriken'. He was buried after 25 June 1981 in Quorn SA. He died on 25 June 1991 in Woomera SA.
